w/ Gram Parsons - Fallen Angel
NO COVER CHARGE!!!
This definitive biography chronicles a Southern Gothic saga and is a fascinating look at "The Grievous Angel" and the heartbreakingly beautiful music he created. Dispelling myths that have grown to surround Gram, Fallen Angel shows us the essence of his artistry; it is a truly revealing account of his life and ongoing influence. On September 19 1973 the musician and heir to a million-dollar fortune died under the influence of drugs and alcohol near his favorite place--the Joshua Tree National Monument in the California desert. As the founder of the Flying Burrito Brothers; a member of the hit-making legendary Byrds; an important influence on the Rolling Stones; and the man who catapulted Emmylou Harris to fame Gram Parsons made music histor in only a few years.Fallen Angel features music from Gram Parsons' groundbreaking career with The International Submarine Band, The Byrds, The Flying Burrito Brothers, as well as his highly acclaimed solo albums. The film was made on location by director and musician Gandulf Hennig and American music journalist musician and biographer Sid Griffin. Friends contemporaries and devotees of Gram Parsons talk about the importance of his work and the bizarre circumstances of his early death. Rare footage of his performances shows why Parsons has become a legend.
SHATTERPROOF
w/ Narcotic Self, Both Guns Blazing, & Blessed Are The Merciless
TICKETS: $8.00
Shatterproof is a metalcore Nebraska band from Omaha, NE. The group formed as guitarist Scott Ray, drummer Ryan Lang, bassist Justin Valentine, lead guitarist Jake Loehr, and vocalist Shane Heim. After a few months, Justin and Shane had left the band with bassist Cody Mason and vocalist Ryan Crawford filling in to complete the line-up. The band went out to put it's mark on the scene by playing any show they could play in the Omaha/Council Bluffs area. In August of 2006, Ryan Crawford and the band mutually split and the search for a vocalist was on. Three months later, Derrek Sammons was the first try-out for the band and ultimately got the spot automatically. Since then, The band has shared the same stage with great local metal veterans such as: Venaculas, Narcotic Self, Stigmata, Facecage, Both Guns Blazing, and etc. The band also has opened up for national bands such as: Divine Heresy, Light This City, The Black Dahlia Murder, The Faceless, Kataklysm, and many more. Shatterproof brings the in-your-face vocals, crunching riffs, thunderous bass lines, and the pounding double kick that all metal heads and hard rockers crave. Their songs are described to be very addictive with catchy choruses, memorable lyrics, soaring solos, and breakdowns that'll make you throw down! The band is currently supporting it's debut self-titled EP which is being released August 2008.

APOCALYPTICA
TICKETS: $18 ADV / $20 DOS
There aren't many rock bands on this planet that wouldn't like to be regarded as unique. Of course, in these times of nostalgia and endlessly recycled ideas, very few actually deserve that description. Finland's Apocalyptica deserve it more than most. Utterly original in every respect, these classically-trained merchants of genre-shattering metal sound quite unlike anything or anyone else in musical history. Formed in the early '90s Apocalyptica chose an entirely individual path from day one. A few years earlier, while students at the Sibelius Academy in Helsinki, these young virtuosos joined a cello band that specialised in playing music by everyone from Bach to Hendrix. However, Eicca Toppinen and his three comrades had something louder in mind. All fans of heavy metal, they decided to form their own band. Toppinen wrote some unique arrangements of songs by Metallica, Slayer and other metallic legends. Apocalyptica were an overnight success in their native land, embraced by a surprisingly large audience that contained both die-hard metal fans and chin-stroking classical aficionados. It might seem a peculiar combination, but for the band the two genres have a logical and natural relationship. Inspired by their sudden and surprising rise to prominence, Apocalyptica spent the rest of the '90s riding a towering wave of creativity and earning themselves a formidable reputation as a jaw-dropping live act.

FORTY TWENTY
TICKETS: $7 at the door
Take a couple of country boys, a rhythm section with a punk-rock background, add a multi-talented guitar player, and you’ve got Forty Twenty, a young, energetic group of musicians playing the songs they’ve written and the songs they grew up on. With slogans like “So Country It’ll Make You Puke,” and “Purveyors of Fine Music,” Forty Twenty manages to seamlessly transition from honky-tonk originals to metal covers (and back again) with a breakneck speed and ferocious intensity that somehow makes sense. “It’s kinda like a punk show, only way twangier,” said Jedd Beaudoin of F5 Magazine. Currently touring in support of its debut studio album, “Lowdown and Dirty,” Forty Twenty has performed live on radio stations and shared the stage with numerous national acts including BR549, Hank Williams III, and the Dera.
