Available for almost a year in the band's native England, IRON MAIDEN's latest live DVD, "Death on the Road", will finally receive a much-deserved U.S. release on January 30. Filmed at the Westenfalenhalle Arena in Dortmund, Germany, the performance was personally edited by founding member/bassist Steve Harris, to fully capture the magnificent stage production and to cut right to the heart and the electricity of the band's performance.
"We realize that the fans have been made to wait a little longer than planned for the DVD to come out," admits Harris. "We won't settle for anything but the best and the extra time and effort spent in the final production of this DVD should be apparent. I can safely say that when people see songs like 'Paschendale' and 'Dance of Death' their jaws will hit the floor as mine did when I saw the final product on my TV at home. With visuals like this and the show played in 5.1 on a decent system it's just like being in the front rows of the show."
To ensure top quality and to avoid any compromise in reproducing the very best possible sound and picture quality, the band has taken the unprecedented step of making the full concert available on two separate discs — one with full traditional stereo soundtrack and the other with specially mixed 5.1 sound by Kevin "Caveman" Shirley — which along with the special features disc makes three discs in all.
As with all officially released MAIDEN DVDs issued thus far, "Death on the Road" contains oodles of bonus material (this time, three hours' worth), including an exclusive documentary directed by Matthew Amos — who also directed the band's award-winning "Early Days" documentary. It's an insight into the production of the "Dance of Death" album from its writing and recording through to the detail in what it takes to get a massive show like MAIDEN on the road. Also included are all of the promo videos from the album, background interviews with members of the production crew and fans during the tour, artwork, design sketches, and photo galleries.
Since the taping of "Death on the Road", IRON MAIDEN has issued the critically heralded "A Matter of Life and Death" album, which has sold 153,000 copies in the United States since its Sept. 5 release, according to Nielsen SoundScan.
Up next for the group is a headlining spot at the Dubai (United Arab Emirates) Desert Rock Festival on March 9, which will see IRON MAIDEN joined by the likes of THE PRODIGY, STONE SOUR, IN FLAMES, MASTODON, CHILDREN OF BODOM, LAUREN HARRIS and JUNKYARD GROOVE. Source: Blabbermouth.net |

COLDWORKER, the Örebro, Sweden-based band consisting of current and former/current members of such bands as NASUM, RELENTLESS, CARNAL GRIEF, RUIN and PHOBOS, has issued the following update: "In the begining of 2007, there was a line-up change in COLDWORKER. André Alvinzi [guitar] has been replaced by Daniel Schröder. Daniel comes from RUIN just like Anders Bertilsson, and will have the role of a rhythm guitarist in the band as Anders B. becomes the solo guitarist. "We will spend the closest time rehearsing the old songs with Daniel and at the same time work on some new material for a possible demo recording in March. "We want to thank André for his time and wish him all the best in CARNAL GRIEF and whereever his musical creativeness will take him." An e-card for COLDWORKER's debut album, "The Contaminated Void", is available at this location. "The Contaminated Void" was recorded by the band last June and mixed by Dan Swanö. A three-minute MP3 file containing audio samples of "The Contaminated Void" can be downloaded here. The CD is due in the U.S. on January 23 via Relapse Records. |

STONE SOUR frontman Corey Taylor has told MTV.com that the band's current success means he and guitarist Jim Root won't be able to devote their energy to SLIPKNOT until early 2008. While this seems to contradict percussionist M. Shawn Crahan's claim that the 'KNOT would be writing together next fall or early summer, Taylor said he never planned to do much with the band in 2007. just don't see anything serious happening until the beginning of early 2008," he reiterated. "But that was my plan from the get-go. Between recording and touring for 'Vol 3: The Subliminal Verses', we spent two and a half years, and that period was just so f---in' crazy that you kind of have to give it at least that much equal time to settle down and get the interest back up."
STONE SOUR is planning on filming a video soon for its new single, "Sillyworld". The band plans to hire an animator for the clip, which Taylor hopes will be a cross between PINK FLOYD's "The Wall" and QUEENS OF THE STONE AGE's video for "Go With the Flow". "There will be a little principal photography, but mostly it'll be animated," Taylor said. "We definitely want to do something that fits with the different themes of the song, but at the same time is really cool to watch."
Taylor said that he has a director in mind for "Sillyworld", but the deal hasn't yet been sealed. He added that STONE SOUR won't stop at three singles. While "Sillyworld" is making the rounds in the U.S., "Socio" will be released in Europe, and if the European single and video do well, they will likely be released here in the future. Also, Taylor wants to cap off the "Come What(ever) May" crusade with "Zzyzx Rd.", which should hit radio and video outlets in late 2007.

Belgian razorgrind warriors LENG TCH'E have posted two new tracks on their MySpace page. Both songs — "Lucid Denial" and "Tightrope Propaganda" — will appear on the band's new album, "Marasmus", due out March 6 on Relapse Records. The CD was recorded in September 2006 at CCR studios in Belgium and was mixed at Studio Fredman in Gothenburg, Sweden with producer Fredrik Nordström. Mastering was done by Alan Douches at West West Side Music in New York. A "heavier and more measured bludgeoning than previous records," "Marasmus" sees the band incorporating more pronounced death metal riffage to their pummeling grind assault, according to a posting on the Relapse web site. "Marasmus" finds LENG TCH'E "maximizing their already lethal damage per square riff ratio with a more deliberate sense of pace. An absolute blinder of a full-length, 'Marasmus' puts LENG TCH'E squarely at the forefront of the modern extreme scene." |
