Norwegian black metallers GORGOROTH have just entered Grieghallen Studios in Norway with producer Pytten (ENSLAVED, TRELLDOM) to begin work on their new live album, "Live in Grieghallen 2007". A 2008 release via Regain Records is expected.
As previously reported, GORGOROTH vocalist Gaahl (also of TRELLDOM and GAAHLSKAGG) recently created his official MySpace page where fans are welcome to keep track of his various projects.
Fan-filmed video footage of GORGOROTH performing the song "Destroyer" at this year's Brutal Assault festival, which took place August 9-11 at the Old Army Fortress Josefov in Jaromer, Czech Republic (Jaromer is situated 130 km east of Prague, 20km north from Hradec Kralove), has been posted at YouTube. Watch the clip below.
GORGOROTH's video for the song "Carving a Giant" has been posted online at this location. The track comes off GORGOROTH's latest CD, "Ad Majorem Sathanas Gloriam", which was released last year via Sweden's Regain Records. |

THE DILLINGER ESCAPE PLAN have been forced to postpone their upcoming tour plans in support of their forthcoming full length, Ire Works, due to a severe injury incurred by DEP guitarist Ben Weinman during a recent video shoot.
Weinman states, "Unfortunately due to a freak accident during our video shoot I managed to break my foot pretty severely. After two doctor's visits, it is clear that we will have to postpone our US and European tour until a later date. New dates will be posted soon and we promise to come back bigger and better then ever."
THE DILLINGER ESCAPE PLAN recorded Ire Works with long-time engineer Steve Evetts at Evetts’ Omen Room Studios in Los Angeles, CA. The band has unveiled the first preview track and album opener “Fix Your Face” exclusively via the band’s MySpace: www.MySpace.com/DILLINGERESCAPEPLAN. Ire Works is set for a November 13 North American release date, November 12 internationally. |

CANDLEMASS' "From the 13th Sun" album, which came out in 1999 and featured mainman/bassist Leif Edling alongside a collection of mostly unknown (outside Sweden) musicians, will be re-released on vinyl via Black Lodge Records. The new LP contains the entire original album plus three extra tracks: "The Odessa Chamber", "Sokrates" and "John the Leper". The bonus songs were culled from demos but due to poor tape quality, they have been re-recorded by Jejo Percovic (drums), Leif Edling, Mats Stahl (guitar) and Björn Flodquist (vocals).

VENOM Confirmed For Spain's ATARFE VEGA ROCK Festival |

Wednesday, 03 October 2007 |
British black metal pioneers VENOM have been confirmed for the Atarfe Vega Rock festival, set to take place December 1 at Coliseo Ciudad Atarfe in Atarfe, Granada, Spain. The festival billing is shaping up as follows:
BELLADONNA EXCITER GRAVE DIGGER KATATONIA LACRIMOSA LIZZY BORDEN MAYHEM MY DYING BRIDE VENOM
For more information, visit www.brmusic.net.
VENOM recently decided to re-record some of the already completed tracks for their upcoming album and push back the CD's projected release date to early 2008. Drummer Antony "Antton" Lant (brother of VENOM frontman Conrad "Cronos" Lant) explains: "During the Scandinavian tour [which took place in May 2007] we played through some of the new tracks in the soundchecks. There's something about the energy you deliver when playing on a stage that differs greatly from recording in a studio. All fired up, we tore the tracks to shreds. We tried to organize a mobile studio to get to the next shows, but it was way too late notice, so on our return to the U.K. Cronos hired some small venues for us to record some new backing tracks to work on. At the end of the day it's all about recording a great album, and this new album is sounding absolutely awesome."
In other news, work has started on a special DVD release of VENOM's classic videos. The Hammersmith show from 1984 ("The 7th Date of Hell") and the "Nightmare" video, along with new interviews with various members and never-before-seen footage from the musicians' personal archives will be included.
VENOM earlier in the year parted ways with guitarist Mykvs (a.k.a. Mike Hickey; ex-CARCASS, CATHEDRAL). "Personal unavoidable commitments in the U.S. have forced Mykvs to announce that he cannot commit 100% to VENOM's 2007 schedule," the band previously wrote in a statement. A new guitarist by the name of Rage has been drafted in to replace Mykvs.
With regards to the direction of the band's next album, VENOM frontman Cronos previously said, "VENOM will be even darker and heavier for the next release. The new song ideas that Antton and I have been composing over the last year will be exactly what the 'legions' expect from us, and will really test the abilities of the band members. There's going to be a lot of blood spilled making the next album. This band belongs to the fans and I'm going to stay true to the spirit of VENOM no matter what sacrifices have to be made."
